What is the In-Person training programme and why in-person?

The Sanctions Compliance In-Person Training Course was the first of our In-Person training courses. These courses are delivered over the course of a day with taught content throughout, where the learning is re-inforced by working through immersive scenarios that develop over the course of the day.

The training is designed to be more interactive and dynamic, whilst providing great networking opportunities. The course represent an opportunity to share and exchange experiences and best practices.

The Sanctions Compliance In-Person Course aimed at anyone involved in the world of sanctions or wanting to learn more about sanctions. with attendees from all backgrounds, including governments, multilateral organisations, private sector and academia.

The course is run three times a year - twice in London and once in Manchester.

If there is enough demand we can also run the course in any location globally.

Sanctions Compliance Training

Details of the content of the course

The morning starts with an overview of what sanctions are, multilateral sanctions, autonomous sanctions, the impact of the growing complexity of the international rules-based system. The day continues by examining the types of sanctions measures, and the differences between comprehensive and targeted sanctions. The morning finishes with looking at sanctions compliance, including the importance of control frameworks and sanctions policies. The afternoon session begins by examining further the issues of sanctions compliance. Considering the role of licencing, reporting, and the obligations of the private sector in implementing sanctions and reporting possible breaches. The course then moves on to looking at specific issues such as ownership and control, and screening of customers/counterparties. Before concluding with a detailed look at how to conduct a risk based analysis, and recognising red flags both with regards to customers/counterparties, and potential evasion activity based off of the latest understanding of evasion typologies.
