For sanctions to succeed they need to be implemented and enforced appropriately. It is vital that any country that uses sanctions or is internationally obliged to support sanctions, such as UN measures, has the capacity to do so. We work with governments and international organisations to help build this capacity.
Sanctions SOS and Sanctions SOS NFP work to build capacity with a number of governments, multilateral organisations and regional bodies. We work with partners such as the UK government, US government, as well as other actors in the think-tank and NGO space to deliver sanctions related capacity building work across the Globe.
We look to understand the needs of different countries in implementing and enforcing sanctions and providing advice on how they may improve this work and build capacity. We analyse the local regulatory picture and any international requirements, and advise on ways forward. We examine trends and best practice and provide bespoke, tailored advice. We work to provide training and education for those involved in sanctions work, both in the private sector and public sector. Finally we work with both sectors to build closer working relationships between both and enhance sanctions knowledge.
